Do you have a critical mind?
Playing the would have should have could have game?
Making constant judgements, comparisons, expectations and assumptions on you and other people in your life?
Unhappy and arguing with what is, with reality?
It’s trash. These thoughts or this type of focus will create a very unhealthy mind and keep you from ever enjoying life moment to moment.
It’s comparable to a constant whining child in the background of your mind all day everyday.
Can you focus, be productive, bring amazing things into the world, or enjoy anything at all while this is happening? Absolutely not.
What do you do?
Why this works.
The mind craves direction. This is why the mind is "whining" and upset. It is afraid you are not in charge and are making poor choices. When you take charge by saying, "Stop it! That's enough!" the mind begins to relax. It will begin to feel safe and taken care of. When it feels safe, it will relax and become calm and quiet.
Mistakes happen. It's ok.
If you feel you have made a choice that is a mistake, accept it. Realize the mistake, declare to chose differently in the future, then let it go. We all make choices from time to time that in hindsight appear to have been the wrong choice. We can't change these past choices. We can't go back and change it however the mind will argue with you as if you can. We can only commit to make a different choice in the future.
If the mind refuses to drop it.
If the mind refuses to settle after firm direction, you may have to deal with an injustice of the past. You can find instructions for working with the mind in this way in the free document called the Master Plan.
