I AM NOT THAT

God or Consciousness could be defined as everything and nothingness.

If I say, I am that.. I am being everything.
If I say, I am not that.. I am being nothing.
Both are true..
Both will challenge the ego or the mind made self..both will help you separate from a personal identity.

Being everything is a challenge for the ego because there are things it doesn’t want to be.
Being nothing is challenging for the ego because there are things it does want to be.

The ego wants to chose its own personal stories, causing it to exist between everything and nothing. The ego wants to be something.. something of its own creation. The ego wants to be some-one..

The truth is the ego isn’t real. It made itself up. It creates stories around itself. Those stories begin to crumble so it has to create new stories around itself so it can be something.. some-one..

I am everyone and I am no-one .. I am not someone.

As I am detaching from all of my attachments and identities, as I am repeating.. I am not that.. I am not that.. and I am not that.. to every story that comes across the ocean of my mind.. Consciousness is revealing its essence.

I can see myself as no self.

We can not know true consciousness while still clinging to or defending the personal me.

No personal me results in no pain and no problems.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

What motivates you to want to make a difference, to want to create change in the world around you? Are you motivated by fear and pressure of what will happen to you personally if you don’t do something, or are you motivated by true compassion and creative inspiration?

Believe it or not, your motive for action can show you if your actions will result in personal satisfaction as well as a powerful lasting change for the world around you, or end in feelings of frustration as well as feeling as if no matter what you do, it never seems to be enough.

This understanding of the power of motive leads us to the question of how do I access this space of creative inspiration?

Where is this space and what do I need to do to get there and be inspired to act from there? The answer is simple to understand but more difficult to execute. The simple answer is to relax.

Relax? Are you serious? Can’t you see all of the chaos and confusion that is happening around us? Can’t you see we have to do something and do it now? Can’t you see if I don’t do something others will judge me and I will feel that I’m not enough?

Those stress invoking thoughts and words came from a part of the mind that I call the problem maker. This voice in our minds is full of stress, pressure, overwhelm, and confusion and it pleads for our constant attention.

If your focus stays with this voice, you will perform actions that are motivated by fear...fear of consequences... illusionary threats from a problem making mind. You will scramble around in the dark, guessing at what actions to take, doing things you do not enjoy, and creating more stress and problems for yourself and others instead of solutions.

Keeping your awareness and focus out of the dark land of questions, confusion, and uncertainty it the first step to learning to relax into living your purpose and bringing your greatest contribution into the world.

Before you can enter the space where action is motivated by compassion and inspiration, you will need to take a look at how you are feeling about what you are doing now.

Are you excited and inspired or are you stressed and confused?
If you chose stressed and confused, take a step back and relax. Take the day off. Take the pressure off of yourself by realizing no matter what the voice of the problem maker says, you always have a choice of how you spend your time. Realize you actually do not HAVE to do anything. Let yourself off of the imaginary hook. Relax.

To begin the process of doing our greatest something, we have to first learn to relax into nothing.

When we truly relax, we drop into the powerful space of the heart where certainty, knowing, clarity, passion, and inspired action exist.

Being relaxed in the heart causes you to be present. When fully present you can see what is right in front of you that needs your personal contribution through fresh eyes of compassion instead of fear.

ALLOW YOUR HEART TO TAKE YOU HOME

Sometimes the desire to be lost again, as long ago, comes over me like a vapor. With growth into adulthood, responsibilities claimed me, so many heavy coats. I didn’t choose them, I don’t fault them, but it took time to reject them. Now in the spring I kneel, I put my face into the packets of violets, the dampness, the freshness, the sense of ever-ness. Something is wrong, I know it, if I don’t keep my attention on eternity. May I be the tiniest nail in the house of the universe, tiny but useful. May I stay forever in the stream. May I look down upon the windflower and the bull thistle and the coreopsis with the greatest respect. - Mary Oliver

“May I stay forever in the stream.”
I talk about this stream so often. I do my best to explain it to others, to help them find it, get in it, to help them feel it. I know that outside of the stream is the space of the mind. This is where most of the world lives. I know the space of the mind, how it creates immense pressure, problems, and dramas. It calls us out of the stream, out of peace and relief, out of our heart space, out of our open field.

The mind beats on the door of the heart and screams, “you better get out here and take a look at this.. this is important.. this is not good… this is a problem..you better fix it..you better do something about this quick because you are running out of time.”

We listen to the fear and threats and leave the stream. We then find ourselves under immense pressure, stress, emotional suffering, flopping around outside of the stream like a dying fish.
Then night time comes, we go back to bed, fall asleep, slip back into the stream, into our calm heart space, then wake up in the morning to the voice of our mind calling us back out of peace again.

Over and over, day after day we play this game until one day, we decide we are tired of suffering. There has to be a better way. Surely this is not the purpose of life. We decide we want to get to know our heart. What is this heart space? Can I trust it? Will it actually take care of me? Will it tell me the right thing to do, at just the right time, in just the right way? Will this stream take me to beautiful spaces, experiences, to love? How will I feel there?

If you ask the mind to tell you about the heart, it will say, “Don’t go in there.. you can’t trust the heart, it has mislead and hurt you before.. It always gets you into trouble when you listen to it. You can’t trust it to tell you the action to take.. So just do something, anything, and do it now. Just take care of it yourself.”
The mind tells lies about the heart and is incredibly impatient.

If you ask someone who has found the heart and has learned how to live from there, the answer here is yes, your heart will take care of you. You can trust it. It will take you to the most beautiful spaces. It will inspire you to take just the right action, put you in just the right place, at just the right time, surrounded by just the right people …and all the while the heart is taking care of every detail imaginable, you feel relief. The peace that passes all understanding is found. From the space of the heart, life becomes simple, calm, loving.

I’m going to tell you a quick “how to” for getting into the stream, for getting into your heart space. Getting in is pretty simple. The challenge is staying in.
To get into the stream, think of some news that you could receive right now that would bring you the greatest relief. Allow yourself to imagine this is actually true. Feel your shoulders relax. Feel the ..ahhhhh...feel the.. “Ah, that’s better”.. If you can feel this, even for a second, you did it! You are in the steam.

How long can you stay in before the mind starts beating on the door again and says, “Get out of there, this is silly!
That’s not true.. That will never happen..That’s not going to help anything!”
The challenge begins.

The longer you can stay in the stream, in the heart, in the feeling of relief, the farther the stream can take you and the closer to an amazing pressure-free life you become. It can be a challenge but it's definitely one that is worth accepting. May your journey begin.
Allow your heart to take you home.
