A tidy mind is an uncluttered mind.

Say these words to yourself:

I now ask to return my mind to peace. Allow my mind space to become only space. Increase the spaciousness in my mind and decrease the talking. Decrease the thinking. Decrease the analyzing. Decrease the trying to figure it out. Decrease the worry. Decrease the stuff, the words, the thoughts, the beliefs that I'm drowning in inside my head. Increase the space.

TRY THIS TODAY. For 2 minutes or 120 seconds, give your attention to an inanimate object. Find any object that doesn't move or think or DO anything except be and exist. Set a timer so you don't have to keep looking at your phone.
As you are giving this object your attention, notice just how many thoughts and judgements run through your mind.

Your mind will do it's best to find some way to entertain itself while looking at this object. It will describe the object to you inside your head. It will point out all of the identifying qualities. Notice if your mind becomes bored and then begins to resist this exercise. Notice all of the thinking and talking that happens inside your head.

Now consider all of those thoughts and words sitting in your mind with nowhere to go. Your mind is generating massive amounts of useless thoughts and talking and cluttering up your mind space with unnecessary noise. If it had that many thoughts and words in 2 minutes around an inanimate object, just imagine how many it's producing around the people and situations in your life all day long. This leaves no space for stillness. There is no space for peace. There is no space for clarity.

Begin to practice looking at things and people around you while focusing on just being. Let go of attaching to or caring about what the mind is saying about a thing or a person.

Look at that same object now. As you look and your mind talks, just say "whatever" and let the thoughts and words move on by and out. Wait for the next thought. When you hear it say, "whatever, move along".

A tidy mind is a mind free of thought clutter. It's full of spaciousness, stillness, and peace. A tidy mind allows you to just be and flow with life.
