The Tidy Mind is an analogy of the mind as an actual living space or house that contains different rooms. The Tidy Mind Map will show you the names of those rooms. After you learn more about this process, you will be able to use the map to see where your mind is and how and why it is causing emotional upset. When you locate your mind on the map, you can track its habits and tendencies and then work to change them.
Think of this as the attic. Where your mind goes when it is anxious and worried over unknowns.
This is your main level. It is every person and every circumstance you are dealing with in your current everyday life.
Consider the Past Room as the Basement of your mind house. It's where you store all of the deeper pain, fears, and beliefs of childhood.
Located upstairs next door to the future room. The God Room acts as a back up support for the Caretaker of the mind- which is you.
Where your tidy and relaxed mind will hang out to create and enjoy life when its no longer in constant emotional distress and upset.
You will find the trash room in the basement next door to the Past Room. It's a place to throw away the boxes of stored pain and beliefs.

Our goal with using this tool is to create awareness of the thoughts or words in your inner dialogue that are creating the emotional upset and then to not meet those words with resistance and upset, but unconditional love and acceptance. Awareness gives you the power to change things. This practice slowly begins to create trust and relax your mind..
The rooms help you determine mental habits and patterns and find those repetitive dialogues being spoken by your thinking mind. Finding these "audios" will help you understand and eliminate this mental dialogue, therefore keeping how you feel emotionally in a more calm and stable state. |
